| 1) THINK SMALL. Get
a smaller cam with a MAX resolution of
640x480 video- then upload to youtube at 480x360. You still
retain as
much quality/perspective even if the cam is not the best. I used to use
a DSNAP, then had a FLIP. If you have not purchased a cam and have $400
bucks laying around, a new Sony/Panasonic/Jvc that fits in your hand
like a cup (Hard drive based) is what I recommend. I moved to
a cheap
but smaller Sony cam, for light traveling easy deployment) that fits in
most hands like a small cup. Pro cams scare people. Some build
contraptions to put the cam in, no need. Think small. 2) KNOW YOUR EVENT/ KNOW YOUR FILM DIMENSIONS. PRESERVE THE MOMENTS. If you're going to go to a venue where there will be wall to wall ass, and your cam is one that does 16:9 video, GO FOR IT! The wide angle has let me catch 9 asses in a row, without having to PAN and be suspicious. You can stand in 1 spot, get a nice shot of many things in a row. If you're doing to be specific and focus on 1 thing, go 4:3. Whatever you do, make sure you record to a media that will allow you to review stuff 5 years from now. How good are YOUR DV tapes from the year 2002? Shitty, I bet. So immediately put your work to digital and store it on multiple media (DVD, large hard drives, etc). Backing up your media is CRUCIAL! What's a HD video worth if you can't even back up the recordings? Also carry spare batteries. Know how long you'll be at the events and try to estimate, with battery life, your stay at the venue. 3) LET THE CAMERA ROLL. Leave the lense exposed for ready shooting (when you see what you like) and most times, DO NOT STOP THE RECORDING JUST BECAUSE YOU POINTED THE CAMERA DOWN TO AVOID DETECTION. Let it roll, even if you point it away from target, and when ready then you just point again. You can edit the video later! It's video, not a photo. Time is on your side provided you have more tape, HD. 4) PICK THE BEST SHOT, THEN WORK TO THE WEAKER SHOTS. KNOW YOUR TARGET. If you see something you like, just like when picking up women at a social event, you can't be ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE and letting women see you all over other women. You can't go up to 1 chick, take a number while being seen by another woman you like, then go try to get her number too.She will shoot you down before you get the first for forward to stride for her! lol Same rules apply to shooting video, boss. They do NOT respond well to you focusing on someone else while they see you, then you come to them later. You think it's because she doesn't want to be filmed, but I bet you her ego will let you you film if she knows she's the hottest thing around and therefor you've ignored everyone but her! Watch her pose for you- works 8 times out of 10 for me. She's full of ego, play to it, you get what you want. Pick 1 good target in a given area, if other people are seeing you, and lock there patiently. You might have an excellent shot ahead, and a weak shot to your immediate right, still focus on the excellent shot if the weak shot opportunity has already MADE you. No sense in blowing the good shot for the bad one! Some assess are worth getting caught for, just like rapping to a chick, who's worth the risk of rejection because the reward is much sweeter if you just DO IT. Then move on if the same people are still around when you're done. 5) WHAT THEY CAN'T SEE WON'T HURT ANYONE. It doesn't matter WHAT is being filmed, when idiots see an LCD or any camera pointing somewhere, they immediately LOOK at what you're focusing on. It never fails. Don't use the view finder and don't use the lcd panel! Everyone is looking for you to do both and everyone is looking at your shit when you do both, which indicates you're recording when you are looking at your cam. Master recording without the LCD going. This takes skill, depending on your camera shape and your body, but I can make many tight space recordings without opening the lcd. People don't think you can record and not have the lcd going. You need body language to accompany this to not look like you're checking the cam every 3 seconds. That raises suspicion. Look somewhere else, and STEADY your cam by guessing the angle you're shooting. Practice this at home, make a dot on a paper, put it on a wall at ass level. Then try to pan by and record or walk close and record. See how OFF you are. 6) STAY AWAY FROM THE FACE. In soccer, it's best to place a LOW shot to the corners than a shot higher than a goalies waist. We humans don't really respond well to things down lower than the upper torso, and are normally blind to anything below. Don't go for head shots to avoid annoying women. I saw this because if you're caught, women get upset immediately if she thinks you'll have a tape with her person recognizable on it. But if she sees her face can't possibly be in the video (given the angle of your cam), she's much more likely NOT to blow up on you, and in most cases want attention and keep shaking it or posing. lol In most cases, she won't even notice you filming if you stay low with the camera. So yes, I will walk right up on a chick and let her know her ass is on point if I feel she's an attention whore. Faces make it personal, body parts only means that can't be traced back to her. She won't mind. If you have trouble with this, do something like talk on a phone so she's focused on your activities abover her upper torso, while you're really filming with the cam down below. I cheat a little, not to toot my own horn but I'm a handsome guy and if I do get caught they normally "perform" anyway. No lie. Give a 'dummy' smile like you can't believe what you're seeing and you love it. Not coming off creepy is disarming, being confident is sexy, and you might even get a number out of it. lol You have to train like an Ass Assassin (uhhm not to be confused with a Butt Pirate- wrong site go elsewhere if that turned you on- to get the best shots. Also I get women to also film for me! |
